Save on out-of-pocket school expenses

Do you help out at your child's school? If you donate your time at school functions, donate books to the school library, or help assist the teaching staff, you may be able to save come tax time.

Track your out-of-pocket expenses and your mileage throughout the year if you'd like to take advantage of a charitable deduction. And if you usually provide donations to the school in the form of cash, make those donations in the form of a check. The check will serve to help prove your donation.

As always, feel free to pass this Tip along to friends, and reach out if you need help with your personal tax and finance situation.
